about our office / office policies
Consultation
When you first visit our office for a consultation, the doctor will sit down with you and discuss your particular case and approximate treatment time. We will review the possibility of extractions, surgical considerations, and the cost for your particular case. Of course any questions or concerns that you have about your treatment will be addressed at that time.
There is no fee for this service.
First Appointment - Records
At your first appointment with the orthodontist, diagnostic records are made to determine the best course of treatment. Complete diagnostic records typically include a medical/dental history, clinical examination, plaster study models of the teeth, digital photos of the patient's face and teeth, and X-rays. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care.
Second Appointment - Braces
This appointment is when you get your appliances placed (braces, expanders, etc.) and usually takes approximately one hour.
The first two appointments can be completed in one visit. Please feel free to discuss this with the office manager so as to make it the most convenient for you.
Regular Appointments
Appointments are at regular intervals 5 to 8 weeks apart for an adjustment, which takes 15 to 20 minutes. Our regular office hours are Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday 9:00 AM to 3 PM in the Queens and Brooklyn offices. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately. Cancel only if it is an emergency. It is difficult to reschedule you since most appointments are made 5 to 8 weeks in advance.
Payment & Office Policies
Cost
The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient's problem and the type of braces selected. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. We have no interest payment plans. We also will apply any insurance payments towards your case fee, and we will help you file the necessary paper work.
Fees
In an effort to keep orthodontic fees down while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy:
- At the onset of treatment the patient will be provided a no interest payment plan. This consists of an initial down payment and monthly installments to pay the remaining balance.
- To fit your individual needs, financial arrangements can be made to extend your payments over a period of months with no interest.
- For your convenience, we accept payment by VISA, MASTERCARD, and DISCOVER.
- In cases of serious delinquency, treatment will be discontinued, although we will make every effort to accommodate patients with temporary difficulties.
Insurance
If you have insurance, we will help you to determine the coverage you have available. If you would like, your insurance may be assigned to the office and deducted from your case fee. The balance will be arranged for you to pay (see above). Professional care is provided to you, our patient, and not to an insurance company. Thus, the insurance company is responsible to the patient and the patient is responsible to the doctor. We will help in every way we can in filing your claim and handling insurance questions from our office on your behalf.
